Liquid Rhinoplasty treatment typically takes about 15 to 30 minutes and may require 1 to 2 sessions to achieve the overall goal. Results can be expected to last from 1 to 2 years, and will require repeat treatment for maintenance. Traditional Rhinoplasty is an outpatient surgical procedure that takes about two to four hours, depending on the extent of surgery for each patient. RHINOPLASTY IS A SAFE OUTPATIENT SURGICAL PROCEDURE TAILORED TO YOUR FUNCTIONAL AND AESTHETIC CONCERNS.

When you're ready for your rhinoplasty Brooklyn Facial Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr. Khelemsky, performs Rhinoplasty in a fully accredited medical facility where patients will undergo general anesthesia along with their surgery. As a result, it will be necessary for a friend or family member to take you home and assist you with early recovery. Dr. Khelemsky most commonly performs an “open” rhinoplasty by making a small incision along the skin between the nostrils, known as the columella, as well as incisions hidden inside the nose. This provides access to the nasal cartilages and bones that are reshaped during surgery. The advantage of open-approach rhinoplasty is a high level of predictability and the ability to visualize the entire nasal framework for optimal and highly precise surgical maneuvers. Stitches are then placed along the incisions as well as a soft dressing with antimicrobial ointment inside the nose to help with healing. In very rare cases, nasal packing may be used, but this is unlikely.

Many patients ask when they will be ready to return to social activities and feel “restaurant-ready.” The answer is approximately two weeks, when swelling and bruising are minimized enough so as not to be noticed by others. In about two to three months, the new shape and size of your nose are more apparent, and within six months, most of the swelling has resolved. The tip of the nose takes the longest to heal because it has the thickest skin and retains the most swelling due to the effects of gravity. While results from Rhinoplasty are permanent, your nose will endure very subtle changes as you continue to age.

Will a Rhinoplasty hurt?

During your procedure, you will be asleep while under general anesthesia used during surgery. Additionally, local anesthesia is also used and allows you to have a smooth transition to your recovery after you are awake. As you recover, you will feel congested and are only able to breathe through your mouth, which can cause dry mouth and fatigue. However, once the nasal cast and dressings are removed, patients begin to breathe more freely and recover more comfortably. Intermittent congestion is to be expected and is comfortably managed with salt water nasal sprays. You may receive prescribed medications, but most postoperative discomfort can be alleviated with over-the-counter products.

What are the risks?

Rhinoplasty is a very safe and effective surgical procedure; however, some risks may include infection, prolonged bleeding or swelling, scarring, or an unsatisfactory cosmetic result. Dr. Khelemsky will discuss all the possible risks of nasal surgery with you during your personalized consultation.

What is the best age to get Rhinoplasty?
