Out-of-Town // Patients Who Are Traveling

How to plan for cosmetic procedures

We are proud to extend a warm welcome to out-of-town patients who choose Dr. Renata as their trusted provider for their cosmetic journey in NYC. From the initial consultation to post-operative care, we understand the unique needs of out-of-town patients and are here to assist you throughout the entire process.

1. Submit Photos

Please begin by uploading high-quality facial photographs from various angles using the digital form below. Should any images be unclear, we will request new photos. While we aim to accommodate all inquiries, not every submission may align with Dr. Renata's scope of practice and offered procedures. Please allow 2-3 business days for review, and we will contact you regarding next steps. Dr. Renata is committed to achieving natural-looking results that enhance facial harmony, tailoring further recommendations to your goals and needs.

2. Scheduling

After reviewing your photos and consult form, we will then schedule a Tele-Medicine Video Consultation, ensuring the same level of attention and professionalism as an in-person visit. Prior to your consultation, we ask that you finalize your New Patient Paperwork, complete the required Consultation Fee, and sign all necessary consent forms, including those specific to the Tele-Medicine Consultation.

3. Virtual Consult

Your one-hour virtual consultation with Dr. Renata is solely dedicated to you. To ensure quality interaction, choose a quiet, distraction-free environment with a stable internet connection. Interruptions may lead to rescheduling per our Cancellation Policy. We value mutual respect for time, so refrain from activities like moving, driving, or background noise during the consultation.

4. Review Proposal

Once the optimal care plan is determined, you'll receive a comprehensive Financial Proposal covering all professional fees, along with our rescheduling and cancellation policies. To secure your preferred surgery date, payment of the Scheduling Fee is necessary. Please be aware that booking your surgery date entails payment of the Scheduling Fee, usually set at 20% of the Total Fee.

5. Medical Clearance

Prioritizing your safety, Dr. Renata initiates the pre-operative process by requesting medical clearance from your local physician. This usually entails standard labs, an EKG, and any additional evaluations recommended by your primary care provider to confirm your suitability for surgery. We recommend allocating at least 4-6 weeks for this process, considering the availability of your doctor and specialists.

6. Arranging Accommodations

Planning your stay in New York City is vital as you prepare for your procedure. Whether opting for a nearby hotel room or staying with friends or family in the area, we advise staying in the NYC area for at least one week post-surgery to ensure a safe recovery and attend your follow-up appointments. For your convenience, below is a list of nearby hotel accommodations.

7. Surgery Pre-Op

Comprehensive preoperative preparations are coordinated with Dr. Renata's office. This begins with a Virtual Pre-Op Visit to obtain prescriptions and review consent forms and aftercare instructions. You will be required to have an in-person visit closer to your surgery date, during which a thorough physical examination, re-discussion of the treatment plan, and professional photos will be performed. Any necessary adjustments to the plan will be firmly addressed before the procedure.

8. Procedure Day

All facial surgical procedures are outpatient and conducted in our upscale private office or a fully-accredited outpatient operating room in Manhattan, NYC. If anesthesia is required, you'll receive care from a board-certified anesthesiologist. Post-anesthesia, you'll be closely monitored for comfort and readiness to leave the facility. Your safety is our top priority, and you'll remain under observation until meeting the standards for safe discharge after anesthesia.

9. Recovery

Following your surgery, you'll return to your accommodations to focus on recovery. For an additional fee, you have the option to arrange an overnight stay at the surgical center and hire a private-duty nurse if desired. All follow-up appointments are scheduled at our boutique office in Brooklyn, typically occurring on Day 1 and/or Day 2, as well as Day 7, tailored to your specific procedure. Our dedicated clinical team is committed to ensuring your recovery journey is both comfortable and meticulously attended to.

10. Long-term Follow-Up

Long-term, patients will receive a follow-up schedule of virtual appointments, typically every 2-3 months for about a year, following the standard post-surgical protocol for each procedure type. While we encourage patients to travel to our office for their long-term follow-ups whenever possible, we understand limitations in the frequency of in-person visits. Dr. Renata remains committed to ensuring your long-term results, offering in-office treatments to expedite recovery, manage scar healing, and provide additional clinical recommendations. Patient compliance with aftercare instructions is highly encouraged and plays a significant role in achieving successful surgery outcomes.

Out-of-Town Patients

Frequently Asked Questions

Dr. Renata performs surgical procedures under local anesthesia in our boutique private office located in DUMBO, Brooklyn, at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge, just minutes from Lower Manhattan. For procedures requiring sedation or general anesthesia, Dr. Renata operates in two dedicated and luxurious surgical settings in Manhattan—one in Lower Manhattan and one in Midtown Manhattan—each situated 15-30 minutes away from our office by car/taxi during office hours. Each location features a fully accredited operating room, a one-to-one recovery area staffed by a nurse, and a board-certified medical anesthesiologist. Patient safety is our top priority as we meticulously select the most appropriate location and anesthesia level to ensure optimal comfort and surgical outcomes.

All patients undergoing surgical procedures require in-person follow-up at our office in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Your follow-up schedule is determined during the pre-operative process and tailored to your specific procedure. Most facial surgeries require a Day 1 post-operative visit, with some also needing a Day 2 visit. Out-of-town patients should plan to stay for about a week for a 1-week post-operative visit. This allows for stitch removal and dressing changes while reducing early risks like bleeding and infection before traveling home. Additional follow-up visits are scheduled every few months and typically continue for one year after surgery. While we recommend in-person visits, we understand the limitations and offer Virtual Tele-Medicine when necessary. If travel is not feasible and patients have concerns, we'll coordinate with a local facial plastic and cosmetic surgeon to ensure proper aftercare.

Understanding the importance of having a dedicated caregiver is emphasized during the consultation process. While we do not recommend traveling alone for surgery, we work closely with each patient to help them understand the unique needs of their procedure. A caregiver plays a vital role in escorting you to and from surgery, ensuring post-operative comfort, and managing medication schedules and other essential tasks. Patients have the option to hire a private duty nurse to accompany them during their stay. Additionally, patients may opt to stay overnight in a private room at the surgery location, with the assistance of a private duty nurse, to address immediate post-surgery needs.

Our clinical team prioritizes your safety during recovery. Dr. Renata personally checks on you the night of the surgery, with a follow-up appointment scheduled at our office the next day. For any concerns during your hotel stay, our after-hours emergency call forwarding service ensures access to your surgeon for a timely response. Additionally, Dr. Renata maintains active privileges at several Mount Sinai Hospital locations across Manhattan and Brooklyn. In the rare event of a true emergency, you'll receive exceptional care within New York City's top-tier hospital system, in close coordination with your surgeon.

Out-of-town patients typically choose to travel by car, yellow taxi, or ridesharing services like Uber or Lyft. Most travel for these patients revolves around getting from their accommodations to our office in Northern Brooklyn and to and from their surgery location on the day of the procedure. We suggest patients choose accommodations close to our office in Northern Brooklyn, as most of their visits involve traveling to and from our office for pre- and post-operative care. If renting a car, note that hotels often charge a nightly parking fee, and street parking in NYC may be scarce during business hours, necessitating the use of a parking garage. For assistance with hotel selection, please refer to our list of Hotel Accommodations or contact our office for more options across different hotel categories.
